What instrument do you play? I'm the Band Secretary and a non playing member of the Band. However, I’m a brass player and play the Euphonium.
When did you join Lanark & District Pipe Band and have you played anywhere else before? I joined Lanark as Secretary a few years ago now, following my marriage to Bass Drummer, Jake. I played with Coalburn Silver Band.
Where are you from? Coalburn
What's your occupation? I'm an administrator for a landscaping company.
At what age did you start playing? The tender age of 9.
What made you join a pipe band? I thought since my husband Jake, plays the Bass Drum and my son Neal was learning Bagpipes and daughter Lorna the Tenor Drum, that I might do something to help as a non-playing member.
Do you play any other instruments? Yes, I play Baritone and Tenor Horn.
What are the best moments of your playing career? Winning the Scottish Brass Band Championships (too long ago now) qualifying us to play in the National Brass Band Championships in London.
Other than pipe bands, what type of music do you like to listen to? I love most types of music, especially Robbie Williams, although not keen on Heavy Rock which I’m subjected too most weekends by my Hubbie!
Any particularly funny moments from your time in pipe bands that you'd like to share? Boghall & Bathgate members at a Lanimer Day in Lanark whilst I was playing with Coalburn, when they lined up at the exit to Lanark Market as we were leaving to go home, they turned, lifted their kilts and gave a memorable show!
If you could be anyone else for a day, past or present, who would it be? A lottery millionaire – what couldn't you do with that kind of luck! |
